It supports functionality for making PDF slides complete with colors, overlays, environments, themes, transitions, etc. Many of the packages that come with SWP5.5 are seriously out of date by now, and many 'newer' LaTeX packages (such as cleveref) are probably missing entirely in SWP5.5. Beamer is a exible LATEX class for making slides and presentations. Beware: Scientific Workplace hasn't been updated since version 5.5, which is at least six (and probably more) years old by now.
